REVIEW

The first outing for Kingsman, "The Secret Service" in 2015, was so successful that two years later it's back, even more star-stunned and even more outrageous but just as action-packed and entertainingly over-the-top. I really enjoyed the first Kingsman movie back in 2015 and was very excited for this sequel, I enjoyed this sequel but like a lot of sequels these days it doesn't live up to the original. Kingsman: The Golden Circle is receiving generally negative reviews from critic averages (RT : 5/10, MC : 4.4/10). This is really terrible news because this movie is pretty damn good. This movie really was good but not as good as the first installment.

Taron Egerton as Eggsy Unwin is growing into the role and Colin Firth and Mark Strong are back (even though the former's character was apparently killed off last time) while, thanks to the involvement of Statesman (the US equivalent of Kingsman), we now have a host of American stars, most notably Julianne Moore, who clearly loved her role as Poppy Adams, head of a truly massive drug operation, but also Jeff Bridges, Channing Tatum and Halle Berry (whom we are likely to see next time round in a more active role).

Nothing wrong with the actors performances. Not good but not really bad either. What I cant understand is why they choose to be in it. Good actors like this must get a lot of suggestions with both great stories and money to earn. The story is good just like any other action packed "agent" movie, and with some plot twist added too. Some scene feels emotional, and other scene really hilarious.

The first Kingsman movie had a very infectiously perverse vibe that made the film more unpredictable and fresh. This one lost me as soon as they brought back Colin Firth in the most cartoonish and ludicrous way possible!

The Golden Circle is just as visually memorable as the first movie, but its insanity goes WAY off the charts. CGI is impressive and realistic.

Honestly I think it's better than what some of the critics are saying. It's not as good as the first installment.... I agree, but it's not a conflicted movie in terms of style and direction. It's Matthew Vaughn just having the time of his life doing what he does best: being a zany and unique film director who clearly loves comic books as much as anybody at Comic-Con does. This movie is fun.....go see it or better yet, wait and own it on Blu ray/4K.

I give it 7/10
