SYNOPSIS
A Heffley family road trip to attend Meemaw's 90th birthday party goes hilariously off course thanks to Greg's newest scheme to get to a video gaming convention.
I just don't understand why so many reviewers hate this movie. Sure........ they replaced the original actors, but the new ones portrayed the characters very well. This installment is a genuinely funny, warm and silly movie that had me laughing throughout. IMDb rated this movie so low I almost didn't feel like watching it. Family road trip movies are always great fodder for comedy.
Jason Drucker who plays Gregg is terrific -- many scenes require that the camera stays on his face as he responds to events around him, and he is always natural and believable. Alicia Silverstone, not surprisingly, is a powerhouse -- I would not want her as my mother, but I would cast her as Sara in Daddy's Home 2. Tom Everitt Scott is similarly wonderful.
Storyline is entertaining and will have you yearning for another sequel. The previous three installments were good. Do I miss the original Greg? Hell Yeah! I do but he's all grown up now. I guess that explains why they continued with a younger version of himself. I miss the previous characters though.
Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul is exciting and very comedic. To really enjoy this movie, PLEASE DONT WATCH ALONE!
This movie is still showing in Silverbird Cinemas (Accra Mall/West Hills Mall). Go see it with someone of course!
